Encode Creative Coding Competition

Unleash your child's digital creativity! The Encode Online Creative Coding Competition 2026 invites young creators to translate their imagination into interactive stories, games, and animations using Scratch JR and Scratch. Show the world how technology shapes our lives while building an impressive STEM portfolio for future school applications!

Competition Overview

Encode Education is excited to see your brain! We aim to turn kids' creative ideas into a story, and now we invite the kids to join in! Tell us your story, show us your creativity, and program it on Scratch JR or Scratch. We focus on the intersection of creativity, presentation, and technical skill.

We will score applicants using our official competition framework, assessing both technical execution and presentation. We emphasize:

• Logic & Code
• Creativity & Design
• Presentation
• Theme Relevance

Competition Themes & Divisions

• Junior Division (Age 3-6)

  • Tool: Scratch JR
  • Theme: A Story with My Robot
  • Focus: Visual storytelling, character animation, and imaginative world-building. 
    
    

• Senior Division (Age 7+)

  • Tool: Scratch 
  • Theme: Technology and Our Lives
  • Focus: Interactive game logic, real-world problem-solving, and creative software architecture.

Submission Rules & Guidelines

• 100% Original Work: All coding must be completed independently by the student. Parents or teachers may provide technical guidance only.
• Project File/ URL
  • Junior Division (Scratch JR): Submit 1 project file link (.sjr).
  • Senior Division (Scratch): Submit 1 Scratch project URL and ensure the project status is set to "Shared".
• Presentation Video: Submit a 1-minute maximum video demonstrating the project and presenting its core concept. 
  • Video Requirement 
    • Duration: Maximum 60 seconds
    • Format: MP4 or MOV format
    • Visuals: Must include both Student Face Recording and Screen Recording (Project Demo)
    • Language: Cantonese or English
    • Parents or teachers may provide only technical assistance. Applicants must complete all coding themselves
• The organizer (Encode Education Limited) reserves the right to publish, display, or use all submitted projects, photos, and videos for marketing, promotional, and educational purposes across digital platforms and social media.
• Late submissions after December 06, 2026 (23:59 HKT) will not be accepted.
• Registration fees are non-refundable once enrollment is confirmed.

Awards 

• Gold/Silver/Bronze Awards: Physical certificates and medals will be awarded.
• Best Creative Award: Physical certificates and medals will be awarded.
• Best Narrator Award: Physical certificates and medals will be awarded.
• Certificate of Participation: All participants will receive a physical certificate.
